Dave invited me over to this great site, so I thought I would post a couple pics of my old Tobacco barn and sheep barn in SW Ohio. I have been the caretaker of these old barns for about 20 years now, and other than needing a new coat of paint, they are in pretty good shape. Their feet are out of the mud, and they have new tin on their heads. The longest is an old tobacco barn. About 30' wide by 75' long. Not sure when this barn was built and think this barn may have been moved to this location. There are signs that it was taken down and rebuilt at some point, but no one around old enough to tell me for sure. (will continue this with next post)

The second and smaller barn was used as a sheep shed when I bought the place. I believe this may have been the original barn for the place, with the tobacco barn added at some point. This would make it around 130 yr old. The main part to the right is 30'wide & 30' long. An addition was added to the east end at some point and used for hogs. This addition is about 24' wide & 24' long. The main part of this barn was completely rebuilt in 2001, and now serves as my main shop area. The hog barn part is now material storage and parts pieces for everything needed to keep the place running. Attachments:

The barns sit on a small working 50a farm and we are in and around them everyday. As said the Sheep Shed is now used as the main shop, and the tobacco barn is used for car, truck, tractors, mowers, and equipment storage. I love these old structures and have tried to keep mine as original as possible while still maintaining a usable structure. I hope it will outlast me at any rate. Pretty plain old barns, but still quite usable for my needs. Hope you enjoy my old barns, and I look forward to seeing all of yours. John Attachments:

As I said, the sheep shed has been converted to my main shop area. It is full of benches, tools, and wood working equipment. All are on wheels and can be moved out of the way if/when I need, to work on a tractor, truck or other piece of equipment. It has take about 20yr to get to this arrangement, but it has worked out quite well for me, and I am very happy with the setup. Attachments:

One last shot of tool storage area. There is also a stairs at the back for access to the top part of the barns where I keep all the "Good Stuff" that I just can't do without..... There is also access through this loft to the second floor of the shop. Old hay mow area. Also filled with more of my "Good Stuff". (or junk if you believe my wife) ;D All in all, the barns are a long way from what they were built for. But they work well for what I use them for, and should be around for at least as long as I am able to be around. What more can I ask. Attachments:
