Came upon this barn site through GJ. I've been converting a corn crib into a wood shop on the ground floor and office/ living quarters upstairs. Recently newly married in Oct and moved into the corn crib for a couple years untill we build a new house. The corn crib started out like this. My barn will be the next project. It's pretty straight. The roof is ok. Just need to replace doors and windows and paint. This is my family farm. My granparents moved here in 1919. The barn and house were here when they moved in. My grandfather and uncle built the corn crib in 1959.

Welcome,Neighbor, Love the old barn, it will be a very worthwhile project, restoring it. My great-grandfather, bought a large dairy farm, in late 1800's. It is still in the family, wish someone, could "bring it back", to its original looks.

Hello Neighbor, Welcome to the bb (barn board)Glad you found us. Great to see your barns. Looks like they have been pretty well taken care of for the last 100 years, good to know they found a new steward for the next 100 or so. Was this your home place? From the hay/straw in the one shot, they were obviously used for critters at one time. Still used now? Would love to see some inside pics if you have them. Wonderful old place! So glad it found you. Nice job on the corn crib, is it post and beam construction? Since you built the wood shop first, you must have great plans to save all the old buildings, correct? Can you tell us those plans? Look forward to seeing more. John

Thanks John, Was this your home place? No. This was my Aunt and Uncles place. My dad grew up there but we lived in town 3 miles away. From the hay/straw in the one shot, they were obviously used for critters at one time. Still used now? Would love to see some inside pics if you have them. Yes, well, the hay was put in "loose" 50 years ago. Loose is a lie because it's as hard as concrete now. "loose" means it was put up with forks and not tied bales. The hay mow has old hay 5 ft high 30 feet deep. The only critters in the barn now are racoons. here's one of the ground level showing the milk stantions Nice job on the corn crib, is it post and beam construction? Since you built the wood shop first, you must have great plans to save all the old buildings, correct? Can you tell us those plans? Look forward to seeing more. No it was built with dimensional lumber 16" on center (kind of)

Very nice, what did you use to cover the corn crib? Any before and after pictures of the inside? This is something I would like to turn mine into, shop/ living area.
