There is an old barn on my property that had been flooded many times before I bought the property. It's about 40'x20' structure. All the post and siding from the ground up to about a foot is destroyed. Everything above that looks really good.
I'm planning to jack it up and replace the bottom of each post with a hefty lap joint. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on if I should dig down 4' to below the frost line, just let the post sit on gravel or stone plate level with the ground, or even pour a concrete floor.
Time is a big factor and I'm worried about finding enough time to dig all those 4' holes (12 posts)
(I'm putting in a ditch to prevent the flooding from reoccurring)
Thank you in advance for any feedback or suggestions.

A little more info would sure be helpful. Give us the general location of the barn. We never ask for exact location . Also, pictures if you can. Pictures say a lot. Do you have help? What kind of equipment is available to you? Is the time factor because of weather concerns? or some other reason?
