Has anyone used Vertical Vinyl Board & Batten Siding on their barn instead of the typical steel siding that most use? I am considering all options available before making a decision of what to use. Please include photos or links to photos if you have any. One consideration is that the panels are either 10' or 12' long, which means that there would have to be a transition strip because my walls (see photo) are 17' high. This barn was built in 1912 with an older house to match, so I want to keep it looking like a traditional barn as much as I can but with modern materials. Any suggestions, pro or con would be appreciated. Attachments:

Looks like tongue and groove barn siding (some places call it V groove). It usually comes in 6" or 8" widths. Lowes and Home Depot usually stock it.

I would be leery of 'vinyl' which is just plastic. Look how long wood planks last! Metal too.
