Located in Souther California. If memory serves me well I believe I was told it was built in the late 1800's. It has a second floor and had doors on rollers which I removed and put a permanent door. The bottom has about 6 stall and I think one has a cement floor maybe for birthing animals? The top floor has a large area on the front as well as a large rear room. Overall in outstanding condition with lots of red colored wood inside. Please feel free to share your thoughts about it. Thanks Attachments:

ammoduc Welcome! Nice old barn. Looks like a great open area. I would think your estimate would be pretty close for age of your barn. It seems to be sawn lumber and not hewn with an adze, but I really cant tell for sure from pics. If so, it was built after saw mills or lumber mills became available in your area. That may help you date it a little. From the weathering of the siding your barn could easily be 100yr old.
As for the type of wood for the beams, I am no help. Looks like face cut pine on that one beam, but you say it is red colored, so I don't know.
The second floor or what we call a loft in Ohio, was probably used or storing hay and straw for animals. Since you said you have 6 stalls it was probably set up for horses or cattle. Cement area may have been for milking, but it could have been used for what ever the farmer needed at the time. Do you know what the land around you was used for back in the day? Talk to a few of the old timer neighbors and my guess is they can give you a lot of answers about your old place. More pics please, and let us know what/how you intend to use it. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for being the care taker for the next generation.
