I live in a house in Germany that was converted about 15 years ago from an 1880s barn. I'm just wondering ... what kind of wood is this in the beams? Thanks!   |

Hard to tell from the picture. Pretty sure that it would be a species that is from the area tho. Have you checked with the locals for their opinion?
Thanks for joining in with us, and for posting. Would love to see more pics of the house. Both inside and outside, the post and beam work looks excellant.

The pic on the left and those knee braces look like some kind of pine or fir. The post is too weathered to see grain but those big splits Also look like a pine.
